WHAT IS MEDI-CLINIC SENIOR?

As we grow older, we become more health conscious. We focus more on quality time with friends and family and pursue activities for which we might not have had the time. Because Medi-Clinic would like to enrich your quality of life, we have developed the Medi-Clinic Senior programme specifically focusing on people who are 60 years and older.

MEDI-CLINIC Senior offers the following:

HEALTH INFORMATION

Participating Medi-Clinic hospitals offer regular information sessions and health screening tests for older people with a keen interest in their health.

HEALTH INFORMATION SESSIONS

Experts in the field of older adult medical conditions present free information sessions on the symptoms, risk factors and treatment of such conditions. These information sessions will enable you to take control of your medical condition, should you have one, and make informed decisions about your treatment. You will also get the opportunity to ask questions at these sessions.
As a MEDI-CLINIC Senior member, you will be invited to the sessions, which will also be advertised in the local media.

HEALTH SCREENING TESTS

MEDI-CLINIC Senior members have access to a health screening clinic where a nursing practitioner will perform health screening tests and provide relevant health information. Screenings include blood glucose, haemoglobin, cholesterol, blood pressure and urine tests. Most of these involve a finger prick and results are available within five minutes. Should your results not be within normal parameters, you will be referred to your doctor for a medical examination.

Each Medi-Clinic Senior member will receive a health card on which test results and other medical information will be recorded after each visit. Show this card to your family doctor when you visit him or her. Please phone your nearest participating Medi-Clinic hospital if you want to visit the health screening clinic. There will be a small charge for visits.

If you are 60 years or older you can join MEDI-CLINIC Senior. Please complete a membership application form, which may be obtained in the following ways:

• on the Medi-Clinic website.
• in the nursing unit, should you be hospitalised.
• at the health screening clinic at your participating Medi-Clinic hospital.
• and during information sessions.

With a MEDI-CLINIC Senior membership card, admission to any Medi-Clinic hospital countrywide and in Namibia will be expedited.
