Mediclinic is committed to providing quality healthcare and aspires to be regarded as the most respected and trusted provider of hospital services by patients, doctors and funders of healthcare. Our commitment to quality care is a key focus in all its activities throughout the Group. The Group strives at all times to provide internationally comparable quality care in an environment that is safe to both patients and staff. Quality and safety are actively promoted through a comprehensive programme consisting of five focus areas: clinical governance, clinical information management, integrated clinical information systems, cost management and communication.
The Mediclinic clinical governance programme is well-established throughout the Group. Clinical governance at Mediclinic Southern Africa, the Group's operations in South Africa and Namibia is supported by a clinical information department with unique information management and statistical abilities. The department generates strategic, clinical and management information in order to support decision making, which is an important enabler in the management of quality care. Although there is no clinical information department at Hirslanden, the Group's operations in Switzerland, business intelligence software is used to access meaningful clinical information. Data management and statistical abilities are being strengthened through a collaborative effort with the clinical information department in South Africa. Hirslanden also participates in national and international data-collecting initiatives to measure and improve quality. Mediclinic Middle East, the Group's operations in the United Arab Emirates, does not have a clinical information department either. However significant progress has been made in the clinical information department in South Africa to render services to Mediclinic Middle East.
